Isn’t this just the loveliest Mason Jar cover crochet pattern? Thought to spruce up mom’s house a tat, while I stayed there for the last few weeks, and this is what I orchestrated.

Mom is thrilled with her mason jar crochet cover.

I am calling this a mason jar crochet pattern, however it is really covering a little marmalade jar. After all, most mason jars are not made by Mason, but by other brands. The idea is the same: recycle your glass jars to make them adorable and functional.

Mason Jar Cozies make great housewarming or friendship gifts.

I am presenting this jar cozy to use the glass a a little vase. And to be honest, Mason Jar are really versatile decorating accessories, allowing to store all kind of stuff. Even candles. What’s nice about the crochet covers, is that you can match the color to the room it is meant to go in, and you can decorate the basic pattern with any of the brooches that I have posted in my little Crochet shop: an owl, rose, sock monkey – you name it.

Be creative! You can make the mason jars covers 3/4 in height and use the jars as a drinking cups with the crochet serving as a cozy. A very stylish tea for two with your girl friend.

((Grand-)moms typically prefers fine china. My mom does.)

Tip: if you use a sand-colored yarn, you can work with fine cotton yarn (which is pleasant to crochet),  instead of needing something like a tough twine (which is hard on your hands). The right color gives your mason jar cover a natural rustic feel and your hands will feel great when your project is done.
