10. ANTIQUE ITALIAN DRESSER.
A ‘restored furniture’-piece rather than a ‘recycled furniture’ -project. Let’s call it a contemporary painting makeover of an ‘antique’ from Venice, Italy. It’s excellently done!
The original coloring is in tints of beige, brown and gold leaf. I like the blue and gray, but it is a very gutsy act to over-paint what was already a beautiful work of art. This piece stems from 1950s or 60s, but was made to look like 1800s France. In the 1800s Italian furniture from Venice and Tuscany was quite popular in France.
Last year in my trip to Paris, I blogged about the French & Italian antiques that I found.
I am showing you the night stand again here. This is a genuine authentic antique piece of furniture. It has the unique curved shape of the Venetian design of that era, which made it famous, and which resulted in it becoming quite sought-after antique furniture. I photographed the complete, gorgeous antique Italian bedroom furniture -set, that would make you feel like a queen living in it! Check that out as well.
