I guess, all of a sudden, we have Fashion 2010 on FineCraftGuild. We did not plan to write more about fashion, but it so happens because fashion designers have been inspiring us.
Maybe because I want to wear ruffle-y things this year.
Never mind the ‘how come’? Here’s the how: a free dress sewing pattern for what is called a ‘coffee date’ dress. It’s really a ruffle dress (no coffee needed).
I like it because it’s super simple to make, and as it will be ‘ruffles galore’ this year, this dress is totally in. It goes into my dress patterns file till I am ready to sew it.
Dress Sewing Pattern
It’s a simple silhouette with feminine ruffle detail, and swingy A-line skirt. “It’s quick and simple to make and very versatile- try it in a neutral with a cardigan for work, in navy silk for dinner out, in a fun print with a big belt for weekends, or in black or fuchsia satin for a festive cocktail party.” says the designer.
Ruffle dress, free sewing pattern for sizes 34-42. Seam allowance are not included in this pattern.
Ruffle Dress Pattern Variations
What You can Sew with this Free Ruffle Dress Pattern, is really a range of lovely dresses. While this dress might be called coffee date, I think it works equally well for a dress up to go on a dinner date or visit the theatre. See the pictures here to assess how the dress would look in a work-dress version or an evening gown-version.
