<p>: Not all eBooks are born equally and this one is definitely born unequal to others. It&#8217;s based on Bernat&#8217;s fabulous mosaic yarn, which comes in 2012 fashion colors. Furthermore, the 12 crochet &amp; knitting patterns in this eBook are for unique &amp; beautiful fashion designs.&#160; Here are two examples:&#160; an infinity designer shawl and matching flower beanie.
<p>&#160;</p>
<h3>Sophisticated Crochet Shawl with Infinity Symbol Pattern</h3>
<p><a><img title="8shawlbernat" style="border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; border-left-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin: 23px 43px 23px 45px; border-right-width: 0px" height="431" alt="8shawlbernat" src="http://www.finecraftguild.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/8shawlbernat_thumb.jpg" width="350" align="left" border="0" /></a>This shawl or wrap is crocheted in figure 8’s or infinity symbols, which are then attached to one another in an offset manner. </p>
<p>To me, this shawl says true contemporary sophistication. It could have been an expensive Anthropologie-store-find, but lucky you, you get to make your own and despite the sophistication, the pattern is actually quite easy.</p>
<p>&#160;</p>
<h3><strong>Buy Your Supplies Now</strong></h3>
<p>The very <a href="http://www.finecraftguild.com/go/yarn" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://www.finecraftguild.com/go/yarn';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">yarn</a> you’ll need is this one:</p>
<p><a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004QIMJCE/ref=as_li_ss_il?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=wwwwebcommerceor&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B004QIMJCE"><img style="display: inline; margin: 25px" src="http://ws.assoc-amazon.com/widgets/q?_encoding=UTF8&amp;Format=_SL160_&amp;ASIN=B004QIMJCE&amp;MarketPlace=US&amp;ID=AsinImage&amp;WS=1&amp;tag=wwwwebcommerceor&amp;ServiceVersion=20070822" align="right" border="0" /></a></p>
<p align="right">&#160;</p>
<p align="right"><a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004QIMJCE/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=wwwwebcommerceor&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B004QIMJCE" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Bernat Mosaic Yarn &#8216;Fantasy&#8217;</a><img style="margin: 0px; border-top-style: none! important; border-right-style: none! important; border-left-style: none! important; border-bottom-style: none! important" height="1" alt="" src="http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=wwwwebcommerceor&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=B004QIMJCE" width="1" border="0" /> </p>
<p>&#160;</p>
<p>You‘ll need to get 5 balls of this medium-weight Mosaic Fantasy <a href="http://www.finecraftguild.com/go/yarn" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://www.finecraftguild.com/go/yarn';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">yarn</a> for this shawl.</p>
<p>&#160;</p>
<p>&#160;</p>
<p>The second pattern&#160; that caught my eye on in the free pattern eBook is for this lacey beanie.</p>
<p>&#160;</p>
<h3>Petals &amp; Lace Crochet Hat</h3>
<p><a href="http://www.finecraftguild.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/petals_lace_hat.jpg"><img title="petals_lace_hat" style="border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; border-left-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin: 25px; border-right-width: 0px" height="229" alt="petals_lace_hat" src="http://www.finecraftguild.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/petals_lace_hat_thumb.jpg" width="244" align="right" border="0" /></a></p>
<p>This hat makes you stand out in a crowd. It’s equally stunning as the scarf, but a tiny bit more difficult to make and requires intermediate crochet skills.&#160; As the scarf is easier, start with that, and then when you are familiar with the <a href="http://www.finecraftguild.com/go/yarn" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://www.finecraftguild.com/go/yarn';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">yarn</a>, you adventure and do the hat.</p>
<p>Materials needed for the hat is just 1 more ball of the same yarn, <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004QIMJCE/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=wwwwebcommerceor&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B004QIMJCE" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Mosaic Fantasy</a><img style="margin: 0px; border-top-style: none! important; border-right-style: none! important; border-left-style: none! important; border-bottom-style: none! important" height="1" alt="" src="http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=wwwwebcommerceor&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=B004QIMJCE" width="1" border="0" />.</p>
<p>So, get 6 in total.</p>
<p>&#160;</p>
<p>&#160;</p>
<p>The next thing to get is</p>

<p>Finger knitting. Did you learn it in school? I didn&#8217;t. In fact it was a visiting teenager who taught me not too long ago. Great for kids to learn how to knit, and great way to play with yarn without doing anything &#8216;involved&#8217;. </p>
<p>&#160;<a href="http://www.finecraftguild.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/finger_knitting_first_row.jpg"><img title="finger_knitting_first_row" style="border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; margin: 24px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px" height="379" alt="finger_knitting_first_row" src="http://www.finecraftguild.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/finger_knitting_first_row_thumb.jpg" width="504" align="right" border="0" /></a> </p>
<h3><a href="http://www.finecraftguild.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/finger_knitting1.jpg"></a></h3>
<p>&#160;</p>
<h3>Finger Knitting Directions:</h3>
<p>I hope this picture is mostly self-explanatory, but let me add some instructions on how to proceed.</p>
<p>What you see here is your first row that’s created by weaving the yarn between your four fingers back and forth, so that there’s thread on either side of your fingers.&#160; This is the first step.</p>
<p>&#160;</p>
<p>In the second step, you create a second row, identical to your first one.</p>
<p>In the third step, with your right hand, you’ll pull the yarn of the first row over the second row.&#160; </p>
<p>Repeat step 2 and 3 over and over again till your finger knitting piece is as long as you’d like it to be.&#160; Yarn off by pulling the four stitches over one another and cut your <a href="http://www.finecraftguild.com/go/yarn" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://www.finecraftguild.com/go/yarn';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">yarn</a> in the middle of your last loop.</p>
<p>That’s it.</p>
<p>&#160;</p>
<p>Now do what you want with it…</p>
<p>&#160;</p>
<h3>Finger knitting Tip:</h3>
<p>If you are working with very thin acrylic <a href="http://www.finecraftguild.com/go/yarn" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://www.finecraftguild.com/go/yarn';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">yarn</a>, consider to double your yarn to give your project a bit more &#8216;body&#8217;.&#160; What’s fun about doing this is that you can use <a href="http://www.finecraftguild.com/go/yarn" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://www.finecraftguild.com/go/yarn';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">yarn</a> of two different (complementary/adjacent) colors.</p>
<p>The alternative is to use chunky yarn, which delivers the kind of results that I love for a contemporary take on things.</p>
<p>&#160;</p>
<h3>Finger Knitting Project Ideas:</h3>
<p>There are all kinds of finger knitting projects including how to make a ruffle scarf out there. I think for beginners, it&#8217;s best to keep things super simple and make a doll scarf, which requires about 40 rows of finger knitting. Add a fringe on either side with a few strips of yarn and you&#8217;re in business. </p>
<p>Finger knitting is quite addictive and you’ll progress so fast, I jus KNOW that you will want to make one or more projects. So, I’ve added another article with just finger knitting projects.</p>
</p>
<p><a href="http://www.finecraftguild.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/knitting_missa_h.jpg"><img title="knitting_missa_h" style="border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; margin: 45px 45px 45px 5px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px" height="244" alt="knitting_missa_h" src="http://www.finecraftguild.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/knitting_missa_h_thumb.jpg" width="184" align="right" border="0" /></a> </p>
<p>&#160;</p>
<p>&#160;</p>

<h3>&#160;</h3>
<h3>Finger Knitting Projects</h3>
<p>&#160;</p>
<p>1. You could make a string so long that you could create a labyrinth in your own back yard, and other such uses. <img src='http://www.finecraftguild.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':-)' class='wp-smiley' /> (btw. This finger knitting champion is just seven years old and the string is an entire skein’s worth. Yes, finger knitting (as well as spoon knitting and finger weaving) is perfect for kids and all beginner knitters.)</p>
<p>2. Chunky garlands in pink for girl bedrooms some to mind as a whimsical alternative use of the super-long finger knits, or how about draped over a bed lamp shade? Or twirled and sewn onto a throw pillow, for a matching bedroom set. OK. I better make this for you, as I sure can’t find any pictures yet of this idea.</p>
<p>3. The most common project of finger knitting is to make a loopy scarf.&#160; I quite dig this candy colored version. So, while this looks like a wonderfully chunky necklace to me, the idea of the knitter is actually to use it as a garland to decorate her house in Winter.</p>
<p>4. Now that it’s the season of chunky <a href="http://www.finecraftguild.com/go/jewelry" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://www.finecraftguild.com/go/jewelry';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">necklaces</a>, take things a step further and hand crochet your finger knitting work into a a thick chain. Attach a silk or velvet ribbon on either end and there you are: fashion 2012 finger knitting necklace done. </p>
<p>5. Prefer chain <a href="http://www.finecraftguild.com/go/jewelry" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://www.finecraftguild.com/go/jewelry';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">necklaces</a>? then follow this idea: make a series of smaller finger knits and sew each end onto the beginning so as to make a chain link. Link the chains into each other before closing them. Yes, if you make them in that special color yellow, you’ve got yourself an over-sized gold chain.</p>
<p>6. Or use hemp rope. It is very thin and so the result will be very loopy. Attach two single pieces of hemp on either side and add 2-3 beads to the cord plus necklace findings to finish of this project.&#160; Tip of the trade: (see the picture) the bigger beads hide the knots of where the single hemp rope is attached to the knitted rope segment. </p>

<p>Hiding your creative tools where you need them is not always so easy. As I do art, craft and decorating projects in almost any room of the house, I decided to go around and create creative storage zones in every room.</p>
<p>&#160;</p>
<h3><a href="http://www.finecraftguild.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/craft_closet.jpg"><img title="craft_closet" style="border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; margin: 45px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px" height="484" alt="craft_closet" src="http://www.finecraftguild.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/craft_closet_thumb.jpg" width="389" align="right" border="0" /></a> Creative Living Room Storage</h3>
<p>Knitting and crochet I most definitely do most in the living room. The problem with that is 1/4 of the living room floor space and the sofa is usually ‘occupied’ by a creative project or two, or three.</p>
<p>That is of course aside from the fact that my stash of wool, cotton and other <a href="http://www.finecraftguild.com/go/yarn" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://www.finecraftguild.com/go/yarn';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">yarn</a> take up an enormous amount of space in the general craft closet.</p>
<p>So, the ‘Aha’ arrived and ALL went into this handy dandy rather large storage cube, including all my current knitting and crochet projects.&#160; </p>
<p>How did it all fit? Some rewinding… See that over-sized ball of delightful baby pink cotton? Well, it’s all air on the inside of its inner spool. Doing that for several balls of <a href="http://www.finecraftguild.com/go/yarn" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://www.finecraftguild.com/go/yarn';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">yarn</a> was enough to condense its size to befit this nifty cube.&#160; As my <a href="http://www.finecraftguild.com/go/yarn" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://www.finecraftguild.com/go/yarn';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">yarn</a> is now more easily available where I need it, I HOPE to actually FINISH more projects in the near future.&#160; Yes, the patterns I’ll share with you, albeit that I do a lot of inventing these days.&#160; Most patterns are my own, so it will cost me some time to recount and chart them.</p>
<p>&#160;</p>
<p>&#160;</p>
<p>&#160;</p>
<h3>Perfect Craft Storage</h3>
<p>&#160;</p>
<p><a href="http://www.finecraftguild.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/craft_storage_tip.jpg"><img title="craft_storage_tip" style="border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; margin: 45px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px" height="484" alt="craft_storage_tip" src="http://www.finecraftguild.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/craft_storage_tip_thumb.jpg" width="469" align="left" border="0" /></a></p>
<p> When I close the lid and put a plant on top of my nifty knitting storage, none would know just how many work-in-progress projects are in there.&#160; A calm and tidy living room space for everyone in the household to enjoy.</p>
