Bike Bags! Make Your Own

Whether you choose this apple fabric or another one, this is a happy pattern as I know from experience, that anyone with a bike will love to own.

I know I’ve recently featured a bike lunch bag. This is handy, don’t get me wrong. But these classic Dutch, extra large bike bags that hang on both sides of your rear wheel are bike life transformers. All of a sudden you can go food shopping with your bike,  … go camping, oh you name it.   Because both bags are equally large, you get to keep your bike in balance by filling them up evenly.  Seems so simple (and obvious) but it makes for a much smoother bike ride if you do.

To hang your bike bags, you must have a rack over your rear wheel. Not every bike has this.  Before you go out and get one, just note that this pattern is based on an extra-wide rack (approx. 17" long by 5.5" wide), which you can purchase online: Electra Cruiser alloy rear rack .
